Margaret Fowler

Margaret "Peg" Fowler (born November 9, 1916 , † February 28, 1991 in Rochester , New York ) was an American football official . In 1979 she was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame as the second woman in the “Official” category .

life and career

Margaret, called Peg, Fowler was born on November 9, 1916 and had a career as a football official at the side of her husband Dan Fowler , who after his active career also worked in the administrative area. So she worked from 1947 with the Northwestern New York State Association and the Rochester and District Soccer League , where she was a secretary for both leagues. She worked in these roles for years until she retired. After her husband was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in the "Official" category in 1970 , Peg Fowler followed him in 1979, making it the second woman ever to be inducted into the American Hall of Fame . She died on February 28, 1991, about six months before her husband, in Rochester, New York State.
