Live and act

She came from the Mecklenburg noble family von Plüskow and was the daughter of the manor owner and district administrator Josias von Plüskow and his wife, a born von Schack .

1873 she married Lieutenant Friedrich von Oertzen (1848-1936), a son of Ludwig Georg von Oertzen on Woltow . She was shaped by the revival movement and founded a Sunday school . Even childless, she took in Gertrud von Williesen and Ulla von der Lühe (1880–1963) as foster daughters. In Berlin she made the acquaintance of Pastor Eduard Kuhlo, Johannes Kuhlo's father , and supported him; in Hamburg she supported the city mission of her cousin Jasper von Oertzen . She was involved in various Christian activities, distributed tracts and wrote for Sunday papers. In 1899 she went on a trip to Egypt and the Holy Land. In 1902 she took part in the women's prayer union conference and from 1915 was chairwoman of the German women's mission prayer union founded by Hedwig von Redern .

Margarete von Oertzen wrote an abundance of edifying and in her time successful books for children and young people, some of which have been reissued to the present day, but also treatises for adults. Under the abbreviation MvO , she published games on the Bible, such as a biblical quartet quartet game for children and young people, which were sold through the Friedrich Bahn bookstore in Schwerin and later through the Johannis Verlag in Lahr.
