Margit Taus (born December 14, 1956 in Vienna ) is an Austrian painter and illustrator .

Life

In 1976 Margit Taus attended Gustav Hessing's master class at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and obtained her diploma in painting in 1982 as a master student of Friedensreich Hundertwasser . After stays abroad in Italy, Greece and Morocco, she was a member of the artist group CULT. After ateliers in Upper Austria and Burgenland, she has had her studio in Vienna since 2009. The artist has been using different techniques in her work since the 1970s: wax sculptures, wax reliefs and wax collages were created from a specially developed wax mixture. Cars and clothes were also covered with a layer of wax. There are series of sketches and drawings in exercise books and books, on acid-free paper and Chinese rice paper. Between 1997 and 1999 she was given the opportunity to work on green serpentine in the municipality of Bernstein in Burgenland . Since 2000 she has devoted herself primarily to acrylic painting: The subjects of the pictures emerged from current observations, personal points of contact and closeness to nature.

Art purchases were made by the MUSA Museum Startgalerie Artothek , the Cultural Office of the City of Vienna, the Ministry of Education , the Lower Austrian Provincial Government , the Lower Austrian Society for Art and Culture and the Lower Austria State Gallery .
