Margot Hofer

Margot Hofer (born June 23, 1943 in Prague ) is a former Austrian politician ( FPÖ ), economist and housewife. From 1983 to 1997 she was a member of the Salzburg state parliament and then from 1997 to 1999 a state councilor in the Salzburg state government . Between 1994 and 1997 she also served as the third state parliament president.

education and profession

Between 1949 and 1953 Hofer attended elementary school in Gmünd, Carinthia, and in 1953 switched to the secondary school in Spittal an der Drau , which she attended until 1961. Hofer then completed high school graduation courses at the commercial academy in Klagenfurt between 1961 and 1962 and then gained professional experience with a construction company in Munich from 1962 to 1963 . As a result, Hofer continued her training in 1964 by studying economics at the University of Innsbruck , where she received her doctorate in 1969 with a degree in economics. Hofer worked for a tax consulting firm in Salzburg between 1970 and 1975 and was then a housewife.

Politics and functions

After joining the FPÖ in 1969, Hofer took over the role of FPÖ local group chairwoman for Salzburg-Lehen in 1977. Until 2000, she also worked within the party as a regional women's officer for the FPÖ Salzburg, and between 1972 and 2000 she was also the regional chairwoman of the Freedom Family Association. She held her highest internal party functions between 1982 and 1998 as regional party chairwoman of the FPÖ Salzburg and in 1997 as executive regional party chairwoman. In addition, from 1977 to 1998 she was deputy district party chairwoman of the FPÖ Salzburg-Stadt, from 1977 to 1999 a member of the state party leadership and from 1977 to 1998 a member of the regional party executive of the FPÖ Salzburg. At the federal level she was active as a member of the federal party executive of the FPÖ from 1992 to 1994.

Hofer held her first political mandate between 1977 and 1983 as a councilor in the city of Salzburg, where she held the office of councilor from 1982 to 1983. She was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament on October 19, 1983 and was a member of this body until November 11, 1997. In addition, she served as the third president of the state parliament from May 2, 1994 until she left the state parliament. From November 12, 1997 to April 27, 1999, she was regional councilor in the Salzburg regional government.

In addition to her political mandates, Hofer was also a member of the Salzburg City District School Council from 1977 to 1979 and of the State School Council for Salzburg from 1974 to 1994. Furthermore, she was a member of the Housing Promotion and Social Welfare Advisory Council from 1983 to 1999 and, from 1983, Vice-President of the Salzburg Civil Protection Association.
