Princess Maria Christine Gabriele Antonie Irmgard von Urach (born April 18, 1933 in Stuttgart ; † September 2, 1990 there ) was a German mechanical engineer at Daimler-Benz .

Maria-Christine von Urach comes from the Urach aristocratic family , a morganatic branch of the House of Württemberg , and was born in 1933 as the daughter of mechanical engineers Wilhelm Fürst von Urach and Elisabeth Theurer. Her father was a member of the management's secretariat and chief engineer in Untertürkheim and head of the Daimler-Benz Museum. Her father motivated Maria-Christine to pursue her technical talent, both during her training and during her career at Daimler-Benz. Her only sister was Elisabeth Princess von Urach.

Career

Maria-Christine von Urach studied general mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart . After completing her studies, she joined Daimler-Benz in 1959 as a calculation engineer. She quickly worked in the newly founded IT department and took over its management in 1969. In 1973 she became the main department head for "organization and data processing", in 1979 "department director" and in 1987 department head. The rapid rise was due to the fact that she became a specialist in a new field through many further training courses and therefore had little competition to fear. From 1972 Maria-Christine von Urach was a member of the spokesperson's committee for senior executives and from 1982 she was head of the overall spokesperson's committee. Since 1978 she was the first female member of the supervisory board of Daimler-Benz AG to represent senior executives.

Volunteering

Maria-Christina Fürstin von Urach was the chairwoman of the professional and ethics department of the main group of the Association of German Engineers and the Southwest regional group of the Association of Employed Executives. She also worked in the Society for Computer Science .
