Maria Bartkowski (born June 25, 1985 ) is a German foil fencer and German champion .

Life

Maria Bartkowski began fencing in 1992 at the Göppingen fencing club. The left-hander now starts for FC Tauberbischofsheim and is trained by Lajos Somodi . After graduating from high school in 2004 at Matthias-Grünewald-Gymnasium in Tauberbischofsheim , she completed a law degree at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg .

successes

Bartkowski was with the juniors both vice European champion (2005 in Espinho ) and vice world champion (2004 in Plovdiv ). In 2008 she was eighth at the U23 European Championships in Monza . In 2009 she took part in the European Championships in Plovdiv and finished fifth with the team and 23rd in the individual.

She had her greatest international success in 2009 at the World Team Championship in Antalya . In the battle for third place, she won together with Carolin Golubytskyi , Anja Schache and Katja Wächter after 42-30 against Romania. They only had to admit defeat to the teams from Italy and Russia and won the bronze medal. In the singles Bartkowski was 63.

With FC Tauberbischofsheim, Bartkowski became German team champion in 2007 . In 2009 she was third in the German Individual Championship . From 2005 to 2010 as well as in the 2011/2012 season she was part of the national team of the German Fencing Association .
