Maria Clara Friedrich
Maria Clara Friedrich (born Clara Jezler ; born March 26, 1894 in Schaffhausen , † March 31, 1969 in Zurich ) was a Swiss painter , relief artist and art collector . It is assigned to Concrete Art .
Life
Friedrich came from a family of silver manufacturers in Schaffhausen. In 1919 she married the lawyer and later private banker Emil Friedrich . In 1921 they moved to Zurich . Together with her husband she built up an important art collection with works from Cubism , Surrealism and Constructive Art . The collection of the French banker Raoul Albert La Roche served as a model .
From the 1930s onwards, Friedrich himself became active as an artist (inspired by Adolf Hölzel , Amédée Ozenfant and Hans Arp ). She also worked in the artist group Allianz . Her works were u. a. exhibited at the Kunsthaus Zürich and the Kunsthalle Basel .
Her husband's signature when entering the two hundred in 1940 brought the couple into disrepute among the Zurich avant-garde. Her legacy has been in the Kunstmuseum Winterthur since 1973 .
