Maria Giovanna Cubeddu Wiedemann

Maria Giovanna Cubeddu Wiedemann (* November 17, 1961 in Sedini as Maria Giovanna Cubeddu ; † September 19, 2018 in Nabburg ) was an Italian law scholar and professor at the University of Trieste .

Live and act

Cubeddu Wiedemann studied law at the University of Sassari . During a stay abroad at the Universities of Bochum and Freiburg , where she obtained her Master of Laws in 1988 , she met Dieter Henrich at a conference . At his invitation, she became his research assistant at the University of Regensburg . It was there that she met her future husband. From 1992 she worked at the University of Trieste , initially as a research assistant and from November 2001 as a junior professor. Nonetheless, she taught at the University of Regensburg, where she gave lectures on, among other things, Italian private law and international marriage law. In 2010 she became a full professor in a private law chair in Trieste.

Cubeddu Wiedemann's main research areas were Italian private law and international private law, in particular family law. In comparative law, she was mainly active between German, European and Italian inheritance and family law. In Germany in particular, it was considered an important link between Italian and German law.

Cubeddu Wiedemann was married to the Nabburg notary Anton Wiedemann, with whom she had three children. She succumbed to cancer in 2018.
