politics

From December 1999 Krautzberger became State Secretary in the Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development (then headed by Peter Strieder ). She remained in this position under Strieder's successor Ingeborg Junge-Reyer , where she was responsible for the areas of traffic and urban planning. During the period mentioned, she also went public at the inauguration of various projects. When the Senate Wowereit IV took office in December 2011, Krautzberger was put into temporary retirement and has been President of the Federal Environment Agency since 2014. In January 2017, as a climate protection measure , she called for the abolition of the reduced VAT on foods of animal origin and thus a tax increase from 7 to 19%.

In 2017, Krautzberger proposed a general speed limit in German urban traffic of 30 km / h, as this would lead to more environmentally friendly and smoother traffic. This proposal aroused considerable criticism. Your attempt to "review" the so-called diesel privilege (reduced tax rate for diesel fuel) was rejected by the federal government.
