Maria Lutz

Maria Rosalia Lutz ( 1840 in Vienna - August 17, 1872 ) was an Austrian theater actress and operetta singer (soprano).

Life

Lutz, the daughter of a dancer at the court theater in Vienna, was also trained for ballet. However, she devoted herself to the local singer and was popular as such in Wiener Neustadt and Karlsbad . There she met Karl Mathias Rott in 1858 .

Her son Hans (father: Karl Rott) was born on August 1, 1858, and Carl Borromäus (father: Archduke Wilhelm Franz Karl ) was born on December 20, 1860 . In 1862 she married Karl Rott, who legitimized both children.

Soon afterwards she switched to the operetta, which was flourishing at the time, and won as “Helena”, “Boulotte” ( Bluebeard ) etc. at the Theater in der Josefstadt , at the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Städtische Theater in Berlin and later at the theater Vienna's great successes.

In one piece of equipment ( Schafhaxl ) she caught a cold and died of the consequences on August 17, 1872.
