Mariana "Mari" Cress (born August 12, 1998 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is a Marshallese track and field athlete who specializes in the sprint .

Career

Cress won the 100 and 200 meters at the 2014 Micronesia Games, as well as bronze in the 4 x 100 meter relay . On May 9 of the following year, she set a new state record for the Marshall Islands at a competition in Burnsville over 100 and 200 meters.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she started in the 100-meter run . With a time of 13.20 s, however, she did not get beyond the qualifying round.

Private

Mariana Cress is the daughter of Roman Cress , who was also a sprinter and took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .
