Marianne Elstad Olsen

Marianne Elstad Olsen (stage name: Ann Tayler ; born April 23, 1967 in Lofoten ) is a Norwegian singer. She grew up in Stavern and lives in Larvik.

Olsen was discovered by Arne Bendiksen in 1984 and released the promotional single "Jeg gir meg aldri" / "Fuel To The Flame" (AB Records AB 007) that year. In 1995 she reached 10th place in the Norwegian final of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Kan ikke du?" ("Can't you?"). In 1997, Olsen took 5th place in the Norwegian final of the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 with the song "Min egen Superstar" ("My own superstar").

A higher level of awareness reached Olsen by its appearance in the first season of the reality television telecast farms ( The Farm ) at Norwegian broadcaster TV 2 in 2001. That same year she released the album Come on , where they are as representative of a catchy and presented fast country pop . Their music clearly references American artists like Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks . Almost unnoticed by the press, this record received gold with a total of 22,000 copies sold .

Olsen's follow-up album was Home to Louisiana in 2003, and in December of the same year she released On the Road Again , her first album in a series in which Olsen interprets well-known country songs. In 2004 she sang a duet with Rune Rudberg on his album Gone Country . She writes much of her music herself and has also written songs for other artists such as Lasse Stefanz , Bo Göran Svenson , Rune Rudberg and The Boots Band .

In September 2008 she released her fourth album, Let Your Momma Go , on which she wrote 12 of the 13 songs herself. It was recorded at OmniSound Studios in Nashville .
