Marianne Graf (born December 28, 1951 in Sankt Marein near Graz Styria ) is an Austrian development worker. She is co-founder and chairwoman of the board of the “Albania-Austria Partnership” association.

Life

Marianne Graf is married to Wilhelm Graf. As a graduate of university courses in development policy and global economy, she happened to come to Albania . Affected by the hopelessness and poverty in the country, she and her husband founded the non-profit association Albania-Austria Partnership in 1992 .

The work focuses on education and health care, children's rights, building bridges in mountain villages, building wells, women's projects, peace projects, protection of minorities, cultural and interreligious dialogue, ecology, strengthening smallholders and planting fruit trees.

A total of around 100 construction projects - schools, medical care centers, kindergartens, social housing, educational centers, bridges - were carried out and over 30,000 family packages were distributed.

At the end of the 1990s, Marianne Graf was confronted with the wave of refugees from Kosovo . From May 1998 to the end of the year around 3,500 refugees were cared for. In March 1999 the number rose to 13,000 refugees who were cared for until they returned to Kosovo.

Before the German UN troops moved in in July 1999, Marianne Graf was in Kosovo, in the area around Drenica. She initiated the reconstruction of 540 destroyed houses, which were ready for occupation in November 1999. A center for traumatized children, multiethnic kindergartens and youth centers, sheep herding and agricultural support were other aid activities in Kosovo.
