Felix Ermacora Human Rights Prize

The Felix Ermacora Human Rights Prize is an Austrian prize for services to human rights . It was created in 2005 on the initiative of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) and consists of a sponsorship and a press prize, which are awarded annually by the Felix Ermacora Association - Association for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights . The two prizes are given to people who are particularly committed to human rights.

Emergence

The Felix Ermacora Human Rights Prize was donated in 2005 by the parliamentary club (“parliamentary faction”) of the ÖVP in the Austrian National Council and the Political Academy of the ÖVP on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Felix Ermacora (1923–1995) death . Felix Ermacora was an internationally recognized Austrian international law expert who campaigned worldwide for human rights and the improvement of human rights protection. With the award, which they named after him in honor of Ermacora, the initiators want to "support people who are particularly committed to the protection of human rights and demonstrate their role model function".

The Felix Ermacora Association

The Felix Ermacora Association - Association for the protection and promotion of human rights , which was founded in connection with the foundation of the Felix Ermacora Human Rights Prize , is committed “in the tradition of the work of Felix Ermacora for the protection and promotion of human rights and the improvement of Protection of human rights worldwide ”.
