She began speed skating and short track at the age of six , started for the Comètes de Chicoutimi club and now trains at the high-performance center in Montreal . She contested her first international competition at the Junior World Championships in Marquette in 1997 and won bronze in the 500 m, in the all-round she was fourth. Since 1998 Drolet has officially been part of the national team. In 1999 she was again successful at the Junior World Championship. In the all-around event she was fourth again, over 500 m she won silver and over 1500 m bronze. She also won silver at the 1999 World Team Championships in St. Louis . In the following season 1999/00 Drolet reached over 1500 m and 3000 m for the first time a World Cup podium. At the Junior World Championships in Székesfehérvár , Drolet won gold in the all-around and also silver over the individual distances of 500 m, 1000 m and 1500 m. The following 2000/01 season was even more successful . Drolet won bronze at the World Championships in Jeonju and was sixth in the all- around competition. She also won bronze at the team world championships . She also won three gold and two silver medals at the Junior World Championships in Warsaw . Drolet was able to repeat winning the bronze medal both at the team world championships in 2002 in Milwaukee and with the relay at the world championships in Montreal in 2002 . She qualified for the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City . There she finished fourth and sixth over 1000 m and 1500 m, in the relay competition she won the bronze medal. After the season, Drolet initially ended her career.
It wasn't until six years later, in the 2008/09 season , that Drolet returned to the ice. In the World Cup she reached several semifinals. She achieved success again in the 2010/11 season . She achieved seven podiums, three with the relay and four in individual races. At the World Championships in Sheffield she reached eighth place as the best individual result over 500 m and won another bronze medal with the relay. The 2011/12 season was also successful for Drolet. Over 1000 m and with the relay she came second in the World Cup. Over 1500 m she was seventh in the overall discipline ranking. Drolet was able to win the bronze medal at the world championships in Shanghai over 1500 m and 3000 m. With the relay she also finished fourth in the final and seventh in the all-around competition. At the following World Cup in Debrecen , she won silver with the relay, which she succeeded again at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .
Drolet broke a vertebra in a national race in 2000 but got lucky and was able to continue her career the following season. She has a degree in psychology.
