Marie-Marguerite Dufay better known as Marie-Guite Dufay (born May 21, 1949 in Paris ) is a French politician of the Parti socialiste . Since 2008 she has held the office of Chairwoman of the Regional Council of Franche-Comté , and since 2016 that of the new Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region .

Life and politics

Marie-Marguerite Dufay studied at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris . Then she moved to Franche-Comté in 1971. There she worked for the economic department of the prefecture in Besançon . Then she worked for the “ Pierre Bayle ” cultural center . After 1976 she worked mainly as a housewife and mother for several years. She later became involved in women's rights in Franche-Comté.

She was a member of the Besançon City Council from 1989 to 1995, where she was Deputy Mayor from 1995 to 2008. From 2001 she was mainly responsible for social policy.

From 2004 to 2008 she was the first vice-president of the Franche-Comté region and from 2008 chairwoman of the regional council . She came to this post through the list of PS politician Raymond Forni .

Dufay is married and has three children.
