Marie Antoinette Countess of Ahlefeldt (born April 25, 1711 , † March 12, 1764 in Uetersen ) was a German Countess and prioress of the Uetersen Monastery .

Life

She was the daughter of the district administrator on Langeland Carl von Ahlefeldt (1670–1722), imperial count of Langeland and Rixingen, baron of Mörsberg and his wife Ulrica Amalie Antoinette nee Danneskiold-Laurvig (1686–1755), daughter of Landgrave Ulrich Friedrich Gyldenlöwe (1638–1704), Danish governor in Norway and his third wife Antoinette Augusta von Aldenburg (1666–1701). Marie Antoinette von Ahlefeldt was priory of the Uetersen monastery from 1753 to 1764. She was the successor of Anna Emerentia von Reventlow (1680-1753) and was elected head of the monastery on April 12, 1753 and led it with iron severity. From 1754 she had constant disputes with the monastery provost Benedikt von Ahlefeldt (1678–1757) because she made unsolicited decisions on the choice and appointment of various monastery servants, for which the monastery provost had to be asked beforehand. After his death she was involved in endless quarrels with his successor Henning von Qualen (1703–1785), with whom she led several trials , but who resisted her quarrels and carried out his office until his death.

She died on March 12, 1764 in Uetersen and was buried behind the altar of the Uetersen monastery church. Her grave slab was decorated with great sculptures. In 1785 she was followed by Henning von Qualen, who was also buried next to her behind the altar. It is still unclear why the former opponents were buried next to each other in the church.
