Marie José Burki
Marie José Burki (born January 11, 1961 in Biel / Bienne ) is a contemporary Swiss artist (especially video art ).
Marie José Burki studied French literature at the University of Geneva and graduated in 1988 with an MA in French literature. In 1989 she received the MFA at the École Supérieure d'Art Visuel in Geneva . After a few months in Paris in 1989, she moved to New York . She has lived and worked in Brussels since 1993 .
She taught at the rijksakademie in Amsterdam since 2003, she is a professor of video art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg (HFBK). From April 2009 Burki has been teaching at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris .
