Marie Luise von Halem (born August 15, 1962 in Munich ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). Between 2009 and 2019 she was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament .

Life, education and work

Marie Luise von Halem comes from the noble family Halem and is a granddaughter of the resistance fighter against National Socialism Nikolaus Christoph von Halem . She studied in Reykjavík Háskóli Íslands and Munich (Ludwig Maximilians University) and graduated with a Bacc. Philol. Islandicae (Reykjavík, 1986) and a Masters in German and Scandinavian Studies (Munich, 1992). She has been a publicly appointed and sworn translator for the Icelandic language since 1991.

From 1987 she worked as a consultant in an international publishing agency (Ingrid T. Schick, ITS International Agency & Book Production). From 1991 she worked as a translator and interpreter ( Icelandic-German ). In 2007 she completed a two-year part-time training program as a systemic, solution-oriented supervisor and organizational consultant (NIK eV Bremen, Systemic Society ). She has been an Accredited Mediator (London School of Mediation) since 2016 .

Marie Luise von Halem has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 1995, where she initially worked on the board of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district association. After moving to Potsdam (1997), she was the managing director of the Potsdam district association in 1998 and managing director of the Brandenburg regional association from 1999 to 2009. In Potsdam, she was a member of the city council from September 2008 to January 2010, where she was deputy leader of the Greens. She ran for the mayoral election in Potsdam on September 19, 2010, and came fourth in the first ballot with 6.4 percent.

Legislative period 2009 to 2014

In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2009 , Marie Luise von Halem was elected as the top candidate for the state parliament. She ran as a direct candidate in constituency 21 (Potsdam I) and achieved fourth place behind the CDU candidate with 14.1 percent. In the 5th legislative period (2009 to 2014) she was deputy parliamentary group leader and parliamentary manager of the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. She was a member of the committees for education, youth, sport as well as science, research and culture and the political spokeswoman for the parliamentary group on these issues. She was also a member of the Main Committee and, for a time, the Committee on European and Development Affairs. As part of the new parliament building, she was a member of the art commission.

Legislative period 2014 to 2019

In the state elections in 2014 , Marie Luise von Halem moved into third place on the list as a member of the Brandenburg state parliament. She ran in the constituency of Potsdam I and achieved a result of 19.2 percent with 5557 second votes; First votes: 4,904 (15.7 percent). Since 2014 she has been the political spokesperson for education, youth and sport, science, research and culture and the media and a member of the relevant committees. Since 2014 she has been chairwoman of the committee for science, research and culture of the Brandenburg state parliament.

She no longer ran for the state elections in Brandenburg in 2019 .

Von Halem has been a member of the board of trustees of the Brandenburg State Center for Civic Education since 2009 .
