Marie Mathis

Marie Mathis (born October 24, 1868 in Neutornow ; † July 30 or 31, 1935 in Braunschweig ) was a German social worker and politician ( DVP , DNVP ).

Life

Mathis was born as the daughter of a pastor and later consistorial councilor. She spent her youth in Berlin and then worked as a social worker in Blankenburg (Harz) until 1916 . Afterwards she acted as head of the welfare office of the Duchy of Braunschweig and as head of the state welfare office of the Free State of Braunschweig . She was also a member of the women's association .

Mathis joined the DVP at the end of 1918 and was elected to the Braunschweig State Assembly that same year, from which the Braunschweig State Parliament later emerged. She was initially a member of the parliamentary group of the Braunschweigische Landes Wahlverband and after its dissolution in May 1922 became a member of the parliamentary group DVP and Business Association (DVP / WV). After moving to the DNVP, she was a member of the parliamentary working group of the national parties and the business association (parliamentary working group ) from 1924 to 1927 .
