The Marienkirche in the Eichicht district of the Kaulsdorf community in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia is located in the middle of the street village .

history

A chapel was first mentioned in 1200 as a branch of the pilgrimage church of the Saalfeld Benedictine monastery St. Jacob on the road across the Thuringian Forest .

"In 1464 the brothers Heinrich and Dietrich von Beulwitz founded a Vikareye (representative office) in the church of our dear women in the village and in the chapels to Eichicht at the castle." This is the first mention of the Eichicht church and a castle chapel .

In 1720 the eastern roof tower was rebuilt. The pulpit altar is from the year it was built. From the previous building are preserved: the apostle figures Peter and James the Elder. Ä., Remains of an altar shrine, the baptismal font from 1524 and two chalices from 1665 and 1714.

The big bell from 1721 and its organ pipes were melted down in 1915 for war purposes.

The Lösche organ from Rudolstadt , built in 1887, was renovated in 1970.

Trivia

According to the church book , Friedrich Wilhelm Beulewitz and Carolina von Lengefeld were married on September 2, 1784. Von Beulewitz was Chancellor of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and brother-in-law of the poet Friedrich Schiller .
