The building with the postal address Marienstraße 1 is a listed building on Marienstraße in Stralsund .

The two-story brick building with a high field stone base was erected in 1852.

The facade is structured by a cornice and an implied console frieze under the roof. Arched windows and strong wall anchors characterize the front.

In the courtyard is the octagonal , five-storey tower, the eaves of which are adorned with a round arch frieze. The tower is crowned by a glass lantern . Originally the tower was crowned with stone.

The house is located in the core area of ​​the city ​​area recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site of the “ historic old towns of Stralsund and Wismar ”. It is registered with the number 503 in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund .

The building and the adjacent tower originally served as a navigation school with an observatory .
