Apollonia Chapel (Stralsund)
The Apollonia Chapel is a listed building on Marienstraße in Stralsund , near the St. Marien Church . It is named after Apollonia of Alexandria .
The eight-sided brick building with a tent roof was erected in 1416. The windows are designed with two lanes and have pointed arches . Two segment-arched portals are inserted.
The construction of the chapel was imposed on the people of Stralsund as atonement for three clergymen who were burned in the so-called Papenbrand thom Sunde .
The building is located in the core area of the city area recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site as part of the “ Historic Old Towns Stralsund and Wismar ”. It is entered in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund with the number 47.
