Marija Oksentijiwna Prymatschenko ( Ukrainian Марія Оксентіївна Примаченко * December 30, 1908 . Jul / 12. January  1909 greg. , Bolotnja , Kiev Governorate , † 18th August 1997 , Bolotnja , Rajon Ivankiv , Kiev Oblast ) was a representative of the naive art and a Ukrainian folk artist .

Her unique work includes more than 800 pictures, ceramic jugs and plates, embroidery and seals and played an important role in the development of handicrafts in Ukraine.

Her works have been exhibited in Germany, France, Poland, Canada, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the Soviet Union and other countries. She received a gold medal at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris .

In the National Museum of Ukrainian Decorative Folk Art in Kiev-Pechersk Lavra , a collection of 650 of her paintings is on permanent display.

Honors

  • In 1966 she received the Taras Shevchenko Prize
  • For her 90th birthday and again for her 100th stamp sets with motifs of her pictures were issued.
  • For the 100th birthday in 2009, an official hryvnia coin was minted in Ukraine .
