Marija Karpiwna Sadowska-Barilotti ( Ukrainian Марія Карпівна Садовська-Барілотті * April 1855 in Kamjano-Kostuwate , Kherson Gubernia , Russian Empire ; † 27. March 1891 in Odessa , Kherson Gubernia, Russian Empire) was a Ukrainian theater actress and opera singer (soprano) .

Life

Marija Sadowska-Barilotti was the sister of Iwan Karpenko-Karyj , Mykola Sadowskyj and Panas Saksahanskyj . After her family moved to Yelisavetgrad , she went to school there, where she joined the student theater group and participated in the creation of costumes and sets and as an actress in Russian and Ukrainian in theater performances. From 1876 she played against the wishes of her parents in the Ukrainian professional theater groups of Marko Kropywnyzkyj and Mychajlo Staryzkyj and that of her brother Panas Saksahanskyj. She died in Odessa at the age of 36 and was buried in Jelisavetgrad.
