Marin Šverko (born February 4, 1998 in Pforzheim ) is a Croatian - German football player .
Career
society
Šverko went through the B-youth and the A-youth of the Karlsruher SC , for which he played regularly in the A-junior Bundesliga . On November 27, 2016, the 14th matchday of the 2016/17 season , he made his debut in the first team of KSC in a 0-0 game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
On January 17, 2017, Šverko moved to 1. FSV Mainz 05 . His professional contract runs until 2021. On February 25, 2017, he made his debut for the Mainz team in the 3rd division in a 3-1 win against Preußen Münster . After four more games for Mainz II, Šverko rose with the team at the end of the season in the regional league.
For the 2018/19 season , Šverko returned to Karlsruher SC on loan . At the beginning of the season he was injured and therefore lost the competition for the position of left defender against Damian Roßbach . His first of two appearances for KSC in the league had Šverko after returning there therefore only on the 36th match day. At the end of the season he was promoted to the Second Bundesliga with KSC. His loan was not renewed, so he returned to Mainz and played another 15 games in the first half of the 2019/20 regional league season. On January 21, 2020 it was awarded to the third division club SG Sonnenhof Großaspach until the end of the season.
National team
Because of his dual citizenship, Šverko is eligible to play for the German and Croatian associations. So far he has only been used for the Croatian national teams. With the Croatian U-17 he played as a right-back at the U-17 World Cup 2015 in the games against Chile and the USA in the group stage, came to the tournament in which Croatia failed in the quarter-finals to Mali , but did not make any further use. So far, Šverko also played for the Croatian U-18 and U-19 national team . In 2018 he was also in the squad of the Croatian U-20 national team , but without being used.
