Marinus Jan Granpré Molière (born October 13, 1883 in Oudenbosch , † February 14, 1972 in Wassenaar ) was a Dutch architect, urban planner and influential university professor. He is the founding father of the Delft School saw (Delftse School), the architecture for the flow of traditionalism is counted.

Life

Marinus Jan Granpré Molière studied architecture at the Delft University of Technology . From 1924 to 1953 he was a professor at this school. During his thirty years of teaching, the architectural training at TH Delft was largely shaped by traditionalism.

Granpré Molière was one of the first to recognize that urban and spatial planning was sustainably important and should be treated as a separate discipline.

Based on the book Der Städtebau according to its artistic principles by Camillo Sitte , published in 1889 , Granpré Molière was the initiator of numerous urban development projects, for example the Wieringermeer (from 1927) and the Northeast Polder (from 1937).
