Mario Frank (lawyer)
Mario Frank (born May 31, 1958 in Rostock ) is a lawyer , former media manager and book author. From 2007 to 2008 he was managing director of the Spiegel publishing group . He has been a lawyer in Berlin since 2011.
biography
Frank grew up in Switzerland and went to school there. After completing his military service in Landshut, he studied law from 1979 to 1984 at the Universities of Regensburg and Freiburg im Breisgau , where he passed the first state examination in law. Then he was a trainee lawyer at the Chamber of Commerce in Berlin and the German-South African Chamber of Commerce in Johannesburg . In 1987 he passed the second state examination in law in Berlin. In 1988 he received his doctorate degree with a dissertation on the Ministry of Justice of the GDR. iur. PhD.
In 1987, Frank began his career in the media industry as assistant to the then CEO of Bertelsmann AG , Mark Wössner . From 1989 he gained operational experience at the printing and publishing house Gruner + Jahr : first as sales manager for the Hamburger Morgenpost , then as publishing manager and managing director of the G + J tabloids in Hamburg, Dresden and Berlin. In 1994 he was appointed managing director of Dresdner Druck- und Verlagshaus GmbH & Co. KG, in which u. a. the Sächsische Zeitung and the Morgenpost appear in Saxony.
At the beginning of 2007 he became the sole managing director of the Spiegel publishing group , which in addition to the news magazine Spiegel u. a. Spiegelnet GmbH, Spiegel TV GmbH and Manager Magazin -Verlagsgesellschaft mbH belong. With effect from September 15, 2008, he concluded a termination agreement with the shareholders of the Spiegel Publishing Group and resigned from the management. He has been a lawyer in Berlin since 2011. In addition, he was partner and managing director of the Berlin communications agency from 2013 to 2016.
In addition to his professional activity, he has emerged as a book author of contemporary history. His Ulbricht biography, published in 2001, is considered a standard scientific work. His work "Death in the Führerbunker - Hitler's Last Days" has been translated into five languages and has been published as a licensed edition in Poland , France , Latvia , Hungary and the Czech Republic . In October 2013 he published his book about the then Federal President Joachim Gauck .
