Mario Hossen

Mario Hossen (* in Plovdiv ) is an Austrian-Bulgarian violinist, conductor, music teacher and musicologist.

Life

Hossen received his training in Sofia, Vienna and Paris. At the age of eight he made his debut as a soloist with orchestra. Michael Frischenschlager and Gerard Poulet were among his teachers . He has performed with well-known orchestras such as the Academy of St Martin in the Fields , the Vienna Chamber Orchestra , the English Chamber Orchestra , the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , the Sofia Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Bruckner Orchestra Linz , the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Radio , the orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala , the Orquesta Sinfonica del Estado de Mexico and the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and with partners such as Bruno Canino , Milena Mollova , Adrian Oetiker , Wladimir Fedossejew , Roy Goodman , Philippe Bernold , Vladimir Mendelssohn , Nayden Todorov , Johannes Meissl , Leslie Howard , Gerard Causse , Georges Pludermacher , and Jean-Bernard Pommie .

His repertoire ranges from Renaissance to Classical and New Music. Among others, Tomas Marco , Rainer Bischof , Walter Baer , Georghi Arnaoudov , François-Pierre Descamps and Alessandro Solbiati composed works for him. The work of Niccolò Paganini is at the center of his musicological and artistic work .

Hossen is artistic director of the International Music Festival "Varna Summer" - EFA and EFFE Laureat, European Audience Prize winner 2019-2020 and founder of the International Orpheus Summer Academy in Vienna.

He plays a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1749, on loan from the collection of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank
