Mario Suárez (singer)

Mario Suárez (born January 29, 1926 in Maracaibo ; † November 14, 2018 ibid) was a Venezuelan singer.

Suárez came to Caracas with his family in 1936 and began his career as a singer in amateur radio programs. With the support of Teo Capriles , he was accepted into the Choro Juan Manuel Olivares in 1943 , with whom he had his first professional appearances at the National Theater. In the same year he also performed with Billo Frómeta's orchestra.

In 1946 Julio Rodriguez Tellería made it possible for him to sing on Radio Caracas Radio , which brought him the support of the Mexican singer Pedro Vargas . From 1953 he worked with Juan Vicente Torrealbas Los Torrealbas , with whom he popularized songs like Sabaneando , La Paraulta , Rosangelina and La Potranca Zaina . He also performed with the orchestras of Luis Alfonzo Larrain , Aldemaro Romero and Chucho Sanoja .

With Antonio Ríos , Carlos Lander and Sótero Rodriguez , Suárez founded the Federación Unificada de Trabajadores in 1950 . In 1958 he was appointed director of public events at Distrito Capital and Miranda . From 1966 he was president of the Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Venezuela for two terms .
