Mario Wurmitzer

Mario Wurmitzer (born October 7, 1992 in Mistelbach , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian author and playwright .

Life

Mario Wurmitzer grew up in Hautzendorf in the Weinviertel . He studied German and history at the University of Vienna . In 2010 his youth novel Sixteen was published. He then published shorter texts in literary magazines and edited volumes.

His play Werbung Liebe Zuckerwatte premiered in 2017 at the Thalhof in Reichenau an der Rax . In December 2018, the premiere of his play Nahe at the Osnabrück Theater followed . His novel Inside the Piano was published in March 2018.

He has received several awards for his literary work, including the drama scholarship of the Austrian Federal Chancellery in 2015, the Brothers Grimm Prize of the State of Berlin in 2015 and the Osnabrück Dramatist Prize in 2017.
