Anna Maria Krassnigg

Anna Maria Krassnigg (born December 25, 1970 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director, actress, theater director and author. Since 2012 she has been a university professor for directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar .

Life

Anna Maria Krassnigg spent her childhood in Italy and Austria. After graduating from the Dominican High School in Hacking, she studied acting and directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna.

This was followed by productions and text versions for city and state theaters as well as festivals in Germany, including a four-year Lessing cycle ( Staatstheater Braunschweig ) as well as the own commissioned piece "Full Stuff" ( Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen ).
She created productions, versions and texts for the Theater in der Josefstadt , the Schauspielhaus (Vienna) , Linz 2009 - European Capital of Culture , the Schauspiel Dortmund, Grand Théâtre Luxembourg, Théatre National du Luxembourg and the Salon5 she founded in 2008 . She had guest performances a. a. with the theater version / staging of Daniel Kehlmann's " Ich und Kaminski ", the world premiere of Daniel Kehlmann's "Ruhm" for the Reichenau Festival 2010.

From 1999 to 2011 Anna Maria Krassnigg worked as a role teacher and guest professor for directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar , where she received the second directing professorship in July 2012. From the winter semester 2014/15 to January 2017 she was deputy director of the institute.

Together with the musician, filmmaker and cultural manager Christian Mair, she has been leading the art and science program at Thalhof since 2015 . In spring 2020 she will move her theater concept “wortwiege” from Thalhof to the Kasematten Wiener Neustadt .

Anna Maria Krassnigg lives with her two children in Vienna.

Act

During her studies she made appearances as an actress from 1990 to 1994 (film roles with Walter Davy and Peter Patzak , among others ), as well as her first directorial work and text adaptations, both inside and outside the Max Reinhardt Seminar , including “Inventor”, a commissioned piece for the Technical Museum Vienna, UA , first occupation with scenic writing.

Subsequently, numerous productions and versions for German city and state theaters and works with her independent theater ensemble in Zurich, in connection with the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee , Zürcher Theater Spektakel , Grand-Théatre Luxemburg and TNL (including several world premieres, including own texts). The label "iffland & söhne" was founded, which consists of artistic friends from Zurich and newly acquired partners from Vienna and Luxembourg. In the new, international production community, the “Trilogy of the full youth (Trilogie de la jeunesse baisée)” (co-production: WUK, Vienna / Théâtre National du Luxembourg / Grand Théâtre de la ville de Luxembourg / éditions phi) was created.

Between 2007 and 2009 Salon5 was founded , a space for the contemporary, intercreative connection between theater, film, music and literature. Conceptually and aesthetically based on the tradition of the public living room (“il salone”) in the rebuilt Jewish gym in Fünfhausgasse 5, Vienna. During this period she increased the use of film as an equal coagulating narrative level to the theater. Shooting took place with the ensemble as well as with Luc Feit , André Jung , Otto Tausig , Erni Mangold , Ernst Stankovski , Miguel Herz-Kestranek , and others. v. a.

Since 2015 she has been intensively involved in text and direction with the contemporary revival of the old performing arts of cinema stage shows , an extreme narrative, performative and aesthetic interweaving of film, theater and music.

With “Fenster zu Nacht”, her second own piece, she got a nomination for the Heidelberger Stückemarkt .

Since 2015 Krassnigg has headed the culture and science program at Thalhof in Reichenau an der Rax and, with "Salon5 am Thalhof", offers a hand-picked contemporary program from theater, film, literature, music and applied science.

• "The Good - The Maids' Game" based on Genet, premiered at the Academy for Applied Arts, Vienna, then at the HDK, Berlin, received a 1st prize at the SKS Festival for young actors / directors in Berlin.
• “Elektra & Elfriede”, a two-part evening of antiquities based on Aeschylus, Sophocles, Hofmannsthal, Aristophanes, premiere as part of the diploma production at the MRS, received an invitation to the Theatertage Krakow.
