Marion Degler

Marion Degler (born September 17, 1929 in Berlin ) is a German actress and voice actress .

Life

Marion Degler attended the Hebbeltheater drama school in Berlin from 1949 to 1950 and made her debut in 1950 with a guest performance by the ensemble in Salzburg . This was followed by engagements at several Berlin theaters such as the Renaissance Theater , the Theater am Kurfürstendamm and the Tribune . Since 1960 she was a member of the Wiener Theater in der Josefstadt and took on roles in works by authors such as Shakespeare, Chekhov, Ibsen, Hauptmann, Shaw, Pirandello and Schnitzler. Guest appearances have taken her abroad to England, Switzerland and the United States. Occasionally she was also seen on film and television.

Marion Degler also worked extensively in radio ( RIAS Berlin, NWDR ) and was one of the busiest German-speaking voice actors between 1952 and 1996. She lent her voice to numerous international stars, such as Gina Lollobrigida ( love, vice and crooks ), Jeanne Moreau ( dangerous love affairs ), Kim Novak ( bondage to people ), Donna Reed ( isn't life beautiful? ), Jean Simmons (among others Desirée or Spartacus ) or Elizabeth Taylor (including The Cat on the Hot Tin Roof or The Land of the Rain Tree ). She also became known as the regular voice of Audrey Hepburn in films such as A Heart and a Crown , Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sabrina . She was also the standard German dubbing voice for Sophia Loren , including in The Downfall of the Roman Empire , Houseboat and Wedding in Italian .

In 1994 she retired from the stage. Her first marriage was to the dramaturge and director Otmar Ernst Leutner (1918–1995) and her second marriage to the actor Leopold Rudolf (1911–1978). Marion Degler has been Austrian since 1961 and lives in Vienna.
