Marion Schaefer

Marion Schaefer (born August 16, 1950 in Kremmen ) is a German pharmacist and professor of social pharmacy . She was a co-founder of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe and is considered one of the pioneers in the field of clinical pharmacy .

Life

Marion Schaefer was born in Kremmen in 1950 . After studying pharmacy at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg from 1969 to 1973, she did her doctorate there in 1977 on the subject of division of labor processes in domestic demand research . In 1984 she completed her habilitation at the Humboldt University of Berlin with the thesis Critical Method Studies for the Systematization of Drug Consumption Analysis and its Applications .

From 1985 to 2001 Marion Schaefer taught social pharmacy at the Humboldt University in Berlin . During this time she did research stays in the USA and the Netherlands. Since 1992 she has been Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago . From 1998 to 2001 she was visiting professor for drug epidemiology and social pharmacy at the Humboldt University in Berlin. She led numerous studies on the subject of pharmaceutical care and was instrumental in developing the methodological foundations. In 2001 she initiated the master's degree in Consumer Health Care at the Humboldt University in Berlin. In the following year, she switched to the Institute for Clinical Pharmacology at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin , where she became head of the course and visiting professor for pharmacoepidemiology . Since 2006 she has been managing director of Consumer Health Care - Science & Services GmbH, now CHC - Science & Services / Schaefer & Räuscher GbR, together with Editha Räuscher. She is involved in numerous associations and cooperations on the subject of pharmaceutical care and epidemiology such as the German Pharmaceutical Society , the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe, the International Pharmaceutical Federation and the interdisciplinary research network epidemiology. In 2018 she was awarded a so-called FIP Fellowship by the World Association of Pharmacists. This scholarship honors pharmacists who are committed to various areas of pharmacy and who contribute to their further development. She is the author of numerous articles for the Pharmazeutische Zeitung and a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy , International Journal of Pharmacy Practice and European Journal of Pharmaceutical Education.

  • Since 2000: Chair of the Consumer Health Care Association
  • Since 2001: Member of the Berlin Center for Public Health and the interdisciplinary research network for epidemiology
  • Since 2005: Head of the international patient safety working group at FIP
  • 2008–2016: President of the "Social and Administrative Pharmacy Section" of the FIP
  • 2009: Member of the scientific advisory board at the Federal Insurance Office for morbidity-oriented risk structure compensation
