Nikolai Ivanovich Matschugowski

Nikolai Iwanowitsch Matschugowski ( Russian: Николай Иванович Мачуговский , scientific transliteration Nikolaj Ivanovič Mačugovskij ; born  November 9, 1865 , †  August 16, 1914 near Bartoschken, Neidenburg district , Masuria ) was a Russian general of the Imperial Russian Army .

Life

In 1884, Matschugowski joined the Imperial Russian Army. From March 27, 1903 to November 12, 1904, he served as chief of staff of the 3rd Guards Division before being appointed commander of the 8th Estonian Infantry Regiment on July 9, 1910. On March 9, 1908 he was promoted to major general and from July 9, 1910 to January 28, 1914, he served as chief of staff of the XI. Army Corps.

During the First World War he served in General Alexander Samsonov's 2nd Army as Chief of Staff of the XV. Corps and took part in the East Prussian Operation in August 1914 . After the occupation of Usdau , the German I. Army Corps took up the advance on Neidenburg and got into the rear of the Russian XV. Corps. Chief of Staff Matschugowski died in a shelling on August 16, 1914 near the village of Bartoschken in East Prussia .

Matschugowski was married and had four children.
