Markéta Liebesná

Markéta Liebesná , b. Weissbartová (born November 13, 1898 in Lomnice u Tišnova , † 1944 in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp ), was a Jewish victim of the Holocaust from Czechoslovakia .

Life

Markéta Liebesná was the daughter of Ida Weissbartová born. Popperová (1876–1942) from Lomnice u Tišnova. She married into the Liebesný family, who had lived there since the 19th century: the tombstones of the merchant Moritz Liebesný (1850–1925) and his wife Louisa Liebesná (1861–1921) are in the Jewish cemetery in Lomnice. Markéta married their son Otto Liebesný (born 1894), both lived in Lomnice and had two children: Jan Liebesný, later Jan Líbezný (1923-2006) and Lilly Luisa Liebesná (1927-1944). From 1940 her mother also lived with the family.

The family was arrested in March and April 1942, respectively. Markéta Liebesná was with her husband and children on April 4, 1942 transportation Ah no. 527 of Brno to Theresienstadt and then on 18 May 1944 the transport Eb no. 2056 from Theresienstadt to Auschwitz-Birkenau deported . During the liquidation of the BIIB family camp in Auschwitz ( Theresienstadt family camp or Theresienstadt family camp), she was murdered in the gas chamber between July 10 and July 12, 1944.

On September 17, 2011, a stumbling block was laid for her in front of 231 Josefa Uhra street in Lomnice, where she lived until she was arrested and deported . The stumbling block bears the following text (here with a translation):

The event, which took place as part of the “Days of European Cultural Heritage” (Dny evropského dědictví v Lomnici), met with a significant response in the region. The online edition of the national magazine Literární noviny from September 13, 2011 also reported on the laying of the Stolperstein in Lomnice . The “Heritage Days” are organized in Lomnice every year by the local beautification association OSLO, which also campaigned for the stumbling block. In 2011 and 2013 a total of 9 stumbling blocks have been laid in the community on the occasion.
