Mark Griffin (born October 19, 1985 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .

Life

Griffin attended St Patrick's Primary School and St Maurice's High School in Cumbernauld . He then attended Strathclyde University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in engineering. He then worked as an engineer in Northern Ireland . Griffin has served on the North Lanarkshire Council since 2008 .

Political career

In the 2011 Scottish General Election , Griffin ran as a candidate on the Labor Party's regional electoral list for the electoral region of Central Scotland . On the basis of the election results, he was one of three Labor politicians to enter the Scottish Parliament for Central Scotland. At the time of the election, Griffin was only 25 years old, making him the youngest MP to have been elected to the Scottish Parliament at that time. In the 2016 general election , Griffin ran for the constituency of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth . However, he could not prevail against the SNP candidate Jamie Hepburn . As one of four Labor politicians, however, he was again given a list mandate for Central Scotland.
