Jamie Hepburn

Jamie Hepburn (born May 21, 1979 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Life

Hepburn attended Hyndland Secondary School in Glasgow and the University of Glasgow . Between 2002 and 2007, Hepburn was assistant to MP Alex Neil and ran in 2005 for the council elections for the Glasgow district of Firhill, but could not prevail.

Political career

For the first time, Hepburn ran in the 2005 general election to national elections. He represented the constituency of Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East , which he was unable to win against Labor candidate Rosemary McKenna . For the Scottish parliamentary elections in 2007 Hepburn ran for the constituency of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth , but could not prevail against the Labor candidate Cathie Craigie . However, he was set to fourth place on the regional electoral list of the SNP for the electoral region of Central Scotland and moved into Parliament on the basis of the election results. In the 2011 general election , Hepburn ran again for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and this time won the direct mandate with a clear lead over Craigie.
