Keith Brown

Keith Brown (born December 20, 1961 in Edinburgh ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Brown graduated from Dundee University and then joined the Royal Marines to serve in the Falklands War . He worked for the Stirling local government for a period of 15 years . He was also involved in the UNISON union . Brown has three children and currently lives in dollars .

Political career

For the 1994 European elections , Brown ran for the SNP in the Lothian electoral region. He could, however, only the second highest number of votes behind the candidate of the Labor Party , David Martin join up. In April 1994 Brown ran for a new election for the regional council of Clackmannanshire and was able to win his electoral district Alva . In total, he worked for the regional council for eleven years and chaired it between 1999 and 2003. For the Scottish parliamentary elections in 2007 Brown ran for the constituency of Ochil , which his party colleague George Reid could win in the previous election . Reid did not run for this election. Brown won the constituency's direct mandate with a lead of around 500 votes over the Labor Party candidate and entered the Scottish Parliament for the first time . From February 2009 to December 2010, Brown served as Secretary of State for Education and Lifelong Learning. Since December 2010 he has been the acting State Secretary for Housing and Transport. As part of the constituency reform, Brown's Ochil constituency was dissolved. In the 2011 parliamentary elections , he stood for the successor group Clackmannanshire and Dunblane and secured the direct mandate with a clear lead over the Labor Party candidate, Richard Simpson .
