Kevin Stewart

Kevin Stewart (born June 3, 1968 in Aberdeen ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Political career

Stewart was a member of Aberdeen City Council for more than eleven years and was at times vice chairman. He was involved in the areas of finance and transport. He was also chairman of the 3Rs committee, which was responsible for building ten new schools in Aberdeen. Stewart is interested in the history of the city of Aberdeen and was the driving force behind the erection of a statue in honor of the Scottish freedom fighter and King Robert the Bruce .

For the first time, Stewart ran in the 2011 Scottish general election at national level. In his constituency of Aberdeen Central , he received the highest number of votes by a narrow margin over Labor candidate Lewis Macdonald and thus won the direct mandate of the constituency. He was able to decide this constituency for the first time for the SNP.
