Fiona Hyslop

Fiona Hyslop (born August 1, 1964 in Irvine ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party (SNP).

Life

Hyslop attended Ayr Academy and then Glasgow University , from which she graduated with a Masters in Economic History and Sociology. This was followed by a visit to the Scottish College of Textiles before Hyslop started working for an insurance company in 1986. Hyslop is married with three children and lives in Linlithgow .

Political career

In the Scottish parliamentary elections in 1999 , Hyslop stood as a candidate on the list for the SNP in the electoral region of Lothians and moved into the Scottish Parliament . In the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 , Hyslop was a direct candidate for the Linlithgow constituency, but was subject to the Labor Party candidate Mary Mulligan . However, she moved into parliament as a list candidate for the electoral region. Between December 2009 and May 2011, Hyslop was Minister for Culture and Foreign Affairs. It was not until the Scottish parliamentary elections in 2011 that she was able to win the direct mandate of the Linlithgow constituency for the first time .
