Mark Vincent Hurd (born January 1, 1957 in New York City - † October 18, 2019 ) was an American manager . He was one of Oracle's two presidents and a member of the board of directors from September 2010 until his death . Before that he was managing director and chairman of Hewlett-Packard (HP) and at the same time a member of the board from April 1, 2005 to August 6, 2010. He had replaced Carly Fiorina there , who retired after a difficult merger with Compaq and a battle with the boardroom following disappointing results.

Mark Hurd graduated from Baylor University in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Hurd worked for NCR Corporation for 25 years . For the past two years he served the company as managing director and chairman. His leadership was marked by his successful efforts to increase operational productivity, strengthen the position of the NCR range, and create a strong leadership group. For fiscal 2004, NCR posted revenues of US $ 6 billion, an increase of 7% over the previous year. The net profit almost quintupled to 290 million US $.

In 2001, Hurd was named chairman of the NCR and in 2002 was given the additional responsibilities of managing director. Prior to that, he spent three years as head of Teradata's data warehousing division within the NCR. Before that, he held various positions in management, operations, as well as sales and marketing. Hurd began his career at NCR in 1980 as a sales representative.

Hurd was a member of the "Technology CEO Council", an association of chairmen and managing directors of IT companies that develop and enforce public policy positions on technology and trade topics.

On August 6, 2010, Mark Hurd resigned from his position as CEO of HP for a violation of business principles . He was accused of sexual harassment by an employee he was in a relationship with, but an internal HP investigation did not confirm this. In connection with this, however, he was also accused of having incorrect expense reports.
