Mark C. McKenzie (born 1957 in Lake City , Minnesota ) is an American composer .

biography

Mark C. Mckenzie was one of seven children in a musical family in Minnesota. He learned the piano at the age of seven. He studied English literature and music at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and then moved to Los Angeles in 1979 , where he studied composition at the University of Southern California with Pierre Boulez , Witold Lutosławski and Morten Lauridsen, among others . He received awards for his music at an early age, including the Norman Cousins ​​Award and the USC Outstanding Doctoral Music Graduate Award . From the mid-1980s he worked occasionally in the orchestration of film music. His first independently composed film music was in 1991 for the horror drama Son of Darkness: To Die for II .
