The Secret of the Little Farm (Original Title: The Last Sin Eater ) is an American drama from 2007 .

action

Appalachian Mountains in the 1850s: In a village of Welsh immigrants, there is still a custom for a "Sin Eater" to appear at the funeral and take on the sins of the deceased. That person must live alone in the forest and must not be touched or looked at. The ten-year-old girl Cadi wants to see him because she feels responsible for the death of her little sister. This fell into a ravine when she wanted to run after her. The “Sin Eater” cannot help her despite her efforts. Shortly afterwards, a Christian pilgrim makes himself noticeable by the river. The biblical messages promise Cadi and she now feels relieved of her burden.

The village chief sees the pilgrim as an intruder. He becomes violent and hurts him so badly that he dies. Cadi and her friend flee from him into the mountains. Here they are taken in by the "Sin Eater" in his cave. On the cave walls they discover paintings that indicate the killings of the native American Indians. Miss Elda, one of the older ones in the village, tells the cruel story of the founding later in the presence of the residents. When the "Sin Eater" arrives, Cadi pulls the hood off his head: a normal man appears who was once condemned by the village chief because he wanted his girlfriend.
