Mark Wachholz

Mark Wachholz (* 1976 in Berlin ) is a German screenwriter and author of fantasy literature .

Life

After graduating from the John-Lennon-Gymnasium in 1995 and training as a data processing specialist, Mark Wachholz studied history and cultural studies in Berlin.

Movie and TV

In 2003, Mark Wachholz became a member of the self-administered filmarche in the area of ​​screenwriting / dramaturgy and has been giving regular lecture series and seminars there since 2005 (especially on film history and mythology in film). From 2003 to 2006 he regularly wrote film reviews in the fantastic magazine Nautilus of the adventure media publishing house. Mark Wachholz has been working as a freelance screenwriter and story consultant since 2005 . Specializing in genres such as thriller, science fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror and dark drama, he worked, among other things, as an internal material developer for cinema and television films as well as prime-time television series at Grundy UFA , Wiedemann & Berg , Film- und Fernsehlabor Ludwigsburg, ProSiebenSat .1 and RTL . In 2011 he was hired by KSM Film Cinema to develop the story for the fantasy film Das Schwarze Auge . Mark Wachholz has been an active member of the New German Genre Film since 2012 . At the beginning of 2014 he published the first basic genre description of dark drama with the research project Höllentrips aus der Postmodern and the essay A Test of Character (together with Katti Jisuk Seo ) an analysis of German narrative culture in sports commentary and in German film.

Editor at Das Schwarze Auge

For many years, Mark Wachholz was one of the main administrators of Alveran.org , the most heavily frequented unofficial website on the Black Eye until it closed in late 2010. There he was responsible for news, publications, articles and moderation as an online editor. At the end of 2003, Mark Wachholz was appointed to the editorial team of Das Schwarze Auge (DSA) - the largest German-language role - playing game in one of the world's most extensive and detailed fantasy universes. During the next seven years he worked on various publications (including regional volumes and adventure publications) and story developments in the world of Aventuria (including regular articles in the Aventurian Messenger ). Together with Anton Weste, he revised and added to the popular Borbarad campaign (originally 1994–1997) and was u. a. also involved in the story of the DSA computer game Drakensang (Radon Labs, 2008). With co-author Kathrin Ludwig , he has so far written three novels that are set in the world of Aventuria (see selection of works). The work in the DSA editorial team ended in August 2010, since then Mark Wachholz has been working increasingly as an editor for DSA computer games . He is co-author of the adventure game Satinavs Ketten (Daedalic Entertainment, 2012), was part of the team of authors for Herokon Online (Silver Style, 2012) and also wrote the story for Hexenwald (Sprylab / Chromatrix, 2013), the first augmented reality Game in the world of the black eye.
