Mark Wilkinson (born August 12 in Buckinghamshire , England) is an Australian songwriter and singer . His profound lyrics, melodic talent and passionate performance quickly made him one of the most famous musicians in Australia .

Life

Shortly after his birth, Wilkinson's family moved to Singapore . When he was four years old, they moved to Australia, where he attended the Sydney Grammar School and then completed his Bachelor of Arts / Commerce at the University of Sydney. He only discovered his passion for playing guitar during his time as a student.

Career

In 2006 he released his independent debut EP Cellophane Life , which with its 6 tracks gives an insight into his lyrical skills and emotional sound. The title track and Baptism By Fire got him into the finals of Commercial Radio Australia's New Artist To Radio competition.

In 2007 he went on tour with the current Australian Idol winner Damien Leith and played in front of thousands of fans across the country. Shortly thereafter, he became aware of Peer Music, the world's largest independent music publisher, and Wilkinson signed a worldwide deal.

The year 2008 began with several concerts on the Australian east coast. He then toured Europe for two months and gave concerts all over Ireland, England, France and Germany. There he teamed up with songwriter Adam Argyle and worked with David Gray's producer and band in London . The success of his European tour brought him to the Popkomm Conference in Berlin , where he performed in front of members of the international music industry .

As part of the Forces Entertainment Tour 2009, he performed in the Solomon Islands for Australian soldiers stationed there. In order to make his music available to the public, he started the A Year of YouTube campaign in April . The premise of the campaign was to release an original song every week for a year. He is also signed by Australia's largest entertainment agency, The Harbor Agency.

At the beginning of 2010 he accompanied the Grammy winner Michael Bolton on his tour. Followed by tours with Ian Moss ( Cold Chisel ), John Stevens (Noiseworks) and Shannon Noll. He then flew to China to represent Australia at the World Expo.

With more than 20,000 copies of his EPs sold at concerts, he went back to the studio to record his debut album Truth Came Running with producer Sean Carey , which was released in March 2011. The lead single, All I Ever Wanted , was broadcast by radio and television stations across the country. In October 2011 he released his third EP Sweet White Lies , which was followed by his "A Friend On The Road" tour. He accompanied Boyce Avenue on his Australian tour and appeared in the opening act for Kings of Leon at the Allphones Arena in Sydney.

The album Live at the Basement was released in early 2012 . The live album was recorded during the A Friend On The Road tour at The Basement in Sydney. In March 2012 he toured Australia with his Caught In A Moment tour, with concerts sold out across the country. Shortly afterwards he released the solo acoustic album Hand Picked and gave a handful of concerts in churches in Sydney and Melbourne .

In collaboration with producer Ollie McGill, he began work on his second studio album, Let The River Run, in November 2012 . The album was recorded at Wavetrain Studios in Taren Point, NSW, mixed at Ivory Lane Studios in Gosford, NSW and mastered at Abby Road Studios in London. MGM in Australia and New Zealand took over the distribution including the worldwide digital distribution. Let The River Run was released in August 2013 and immediately shot to number 2 on the Australian iTunes singer-songwriter album chart and number 20 on the general Australian iTunes album chart. In November 2013 the album was number 1 on the iTunes charts. In July 2013 he started his tour to market the album with concerts across Australia, a debut America tour in October, a debut New Zealand tour in November and end-of-year shows in Sydney. The end of the year shows sold out in record time.
