Marko Banić (born August 31, 1984 in Zadar , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian basketball player. The 2.04 m tall power forward worked for the Spanish club CB Bilbao Berri for seven years before moving to Russia to UNICS Kazan in 2012 . He has been playing there again since summer 2015.

Career

Banić began his career at KK Zadar, based in his hometown . With this club he won the title in the Adriatic Basketball League in 2003 . In 2005 Banić moved to Spain to CB Girona , but was loaned to CB Bilbao Berri , where he ultimately stayed for seven years. His greatest international successes with Bilbao were reaching the Final Four in the Eurocup 2008/09 and 2009/10 and the quarter-finals in the Euroleague 2011/12 . He himself was elected to the All-Eurocup First Team in 2009 and 2010 , and in 2010 he was also named MVP of the competition.

With the Croatian national team , Banić took part in the European Championships in 2007 and 2009 and the 2008 Olympic Games . He was also nominated for the 2010 World Cup .
