Marko Kump (born September 9, 1988 in Novo Mesto ) is a Slovenian cyclist .

Career

Marko Kump was Slovenian road champion in 2004 in the youth class. A year later, he finished second in the junior class. In the junior division, he took podium places in the Tour de Lorraine stage , the Lower Saxony tour and at Po Stajerski . In addition, he was able to win a stage at the GP Rüebliland in 2006 and thus made it to third place in the overall standings.

In 2007 he received his first adult contract with an international cycling team with the Slovenian Continental Team Adria Mobil . In his first season there he was able to win the Poreč Trophy in Croatia. In the 2011 season, Kump drove for the first time in his career with a Professional Continental Team , the Spanish team Geox-TMC, and did not win an international race this year. After this team was disbanded, he went back to Adria Mobil. There he won a few smaller races in 2012 and moved to the UCI ProTeam Saxo-Tinkoff in 2013 . After two years without a win, he moved back to Adria Mobil in 2015 and won a. a. five stages of the Tour of Qinghai Lake , a tour of the hors categorie .

After these successes, Kump moved back to a WorldTeam in 2016, to Lampre-Merida , for which he won two stages in the 2016 Tour of Qinghai Lake . He finished second in the sprint decision of the Brussels Cycling Classic 2017 . After the 2017 and 2018 seasons without a win, he won seven races on the international calendar in 2019 for the Adria Mobil team .
