Career

Mlakar started in 1975 in the Yugoslav national team in the Four Hills Tournament . He started the Four Hills Tournament 1975/76 with rank 69 on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf . In the other jumps of the tour he did not make a breakthrough either, so that in the end it was only enough to finish 60th in the overall ranking. After a year break he started again at the Four Hills Tournament 1977/78 . The best result was place 41 in Bischofshofen . He finished the tour in 49th place overall.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 , Mlakar started in both individual disciplines. From the normal hill he reached place 39 after jumps on 73.5 and 79 meters. From the large hill he jumped to 93 and 95 meters and came in 36th. In the team competition, Yugoslavia did not compete with its own team.

The Four Hills Tournament 1978/79 was Mlakar's most successful tour. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen he landed in 14th place for the first and only time in a tour among the top 20. In the overall ranking of the tour, after otherwise mixed results, he reached 42nd place. The following year Mlakar tried it at the Four Hills Tournament 1979/80 again, but he missed the top 70 in all competitions and then ended his active ski jumping career after ranking 81 in the overall ranking.

After the end of his active career, Mlakar switched to the functionary area. After taking part in a number of national competitions as technical director or assistant, he was the official competition director at the 2004 Ski Flying World Championships . At the ski flying world championship in 2006 on the Kulm, he took over the post of technical assistant. He was also part of the competition team at the 2008 Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf .
