Marko Ojanen (born March 27, 1973 in Helsinki ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player and current coach .

Career

Marko Ojanen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HIFK Helsinki , for whose professional team he was active from 1992 to 1996 in the SM-liiga , the top Finnish league. The winger then played for league rivals KalPa Kuopio for a year before continuing his career at JYP Jyväskylä from 1997 to 2000 . He was then committed by Tappara Tampere . With the team he was runner- up in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 seasons before he won the Finnish championship title in the 2002/03 season in the third attempt with Tappara . He stayed with Tappara for another three and a half years before moving to SaiPa Lappeenranta within the SM-liiga during the 2006/07 season. He then ended his active career there at the age of 34.

From 2008 to 2010 Ojanen looked after the U16 juniors of his ex-club Tappara Tampere, first as an assistant, then as head coach. Since 2010 he has been the assistant coach of the professional team of Tappara in the SM-liiga.
